Introduction
In early September, Intel has finally released the long-anticipated Socket 1156. In following pursuit, Prolimatech released the bigger and better version of the Megahalems. Now it comes with extra set of fan clips for even better cooling results. It also includes the new all-in-one backplate for an easy, convenient installation on Intel Socket 775, 1156, 1366 and 2011. Also added to the upgrade package is the new material for the top fin on this "Mega" heatsink. This particular fin is made of all stainless steel. Its main features incorporate a greater resistance to accidental scratches and oxidation. For regular maintenance, all you have to do is lightly polish it with a soft cloth so you’ll always have that new out-of-the-box shiny looks; great for showing off at LAN parties and to your friends!
AMD-Step1place the AMD backplate on the backside of the socket underneath the motherboard and have the screws stick out at the topside.
AMD-Step2Put on the AMD aluminum strip adapter on each side of the heatsink.
AMD-Step3To stabilize the aluminum strip adapter, use the screw nuts.
AMD-Step4Spread out evenly the thermal compound on the CPU and on the bottom of heatsink base.
AMD-Step5Place the heatsink on the CPU and insert the aluminum mounting plate between the heatpipes.
AMD-Step6Use a screw driver to tighten the spring-loaded screws to the aluminum mounting plate.
AMD-Step7Install the fan mounting clips to the heatsink. Secure the fan by the clips.
Installation complete.
Intel-Step 1In accordance to your platform, select the appropriate screw set and apply them to the topside of the backplate following the O-ring.
Intel-Step 2For Intel LGA775 users, first please peel off the protective film on the LGA775 backplate spacer.
Intel-Step 3For Intel LGA 775 users, have the dark side (the softer foam side) of the LGA775 backplate spacer facing down and place it in the center of the backplate as depicted in the illustration. For all other platforms such as Intel LGA 1366 and 1156, there’s no need for the usage of the LGA775 backplate spacer.
Intel-Step 4Screw in by hand the shorter end of the double end stud to the selected backplate that is placed underneath the socket.
Intel-Step 5Place each of the two aluminum strip adapters on each side of the socket.
Intel-Step 6To stabilize the aluminum strip adapter, use the screw nuts.
Intel-Step 7Spread out evenly the thermal compound on the CPU and on the bottom of heatsink base.
Intel-Step 8Place the heatsink on the CPU and insert the aluminum mounting plate between the heatpipes. Use a screw driver to tighten the spring-loaded screws to the aluminum mounting plate.
Intal-Step 9Install the fan mounting clips to the heatsink. Secure the fan by the clips.
Intel-Step 10Installation complete.
